What if Being an Activist Did Make a Difference?

Isn't it encouraging how one person's commitment can create such a positive impact on so many?
Don Harkin's shining example of unwavering commitment to activist truth made a difference in my life.
Don was my friend and I had the blessing to have known he and Ingri for 5 years. At one time, we were both neighbors and colleagues. Don was one of the few people I could always count on to be there if I needed him.

Our Friend and Fellow Soldier

Don Harkins and his wife, Ingri, were and are our friends, and fellow soldiers in the wars of government injustices.  I remember Don telling me (more than once) that he believed it was too late for our Idaho Judicial Accountability Initiative (IJAA was to hold judges accountable when they broke the law from the bench and caused harm), yet he actively promoted it from 2000 through 2006 in the IO.  In one campaign  Don, Ingri, myself and friends Vicki and Scott did a 'tour across Idaho' to get the word out about IJAA.&n

In Remembrance of Don Harkins

I knew Don Harkins all too briefly since moving to this area approximately two years ago. He possessed a great depth of knowledge and an uncanny sense of how all the pieces of the proverbial puzzle fit together. His unique perspective on things will be extremely hard to replace as we continue down this road that he helped to pave.

Don's last interview with Jack Blood

Don Harkins Last Interview With Jack Blood on Deadline Live. Broadcast July 31 2009.

IN MEMORY OF DON HARKINS (editor of the Idaho Observer)

Don Harkins of the Idaho Observer died yesterday morning after a long bout with illness.

Don was one of the best regular analysts we ever had on Deadline Live!
I greatly looked forward to his monthly appearances on the show Which I usually hit
him up for with a few hours notice. He was always up and ready to go for it, and I trusted his
take on all the news we discussed. He brought a wealth of knowledge and a common sensibility to

In Memory of Don

Although I never met Don in person, I spent hours on the phone with him discussing everything from political, military and environmental problems to spiritual and universal matters. Don and I developed such a rapport that I felt without question we were soulbrothers from the same soul family, and think he felt that way as well.

Don Harkins 1963 - 2009

Don Harkins passed away September 19th, 2009 at 4:44 A.M. He was with me, his beloved wife, almost constantly throughout the night along with our dear friend Sadie. Don was sensing that his life was fading and simply didn't have the strength necessary to recover. We prayed together throughout the night and made him as comfortable as possible, praying for guidance and strength. He was extremely touched by the outpouring of love and prayers for his recovery both locally and throughout the country.

Update 8 - Don's Journey to Hell and Back

To everyone following Don Harkins journey to recovery, I simply cannot tell you how much your love, compassion and prayers of support for his journey back to life has been for both of us. The main reason I couldn't maintain the updates was the fact that I really needed to stay focused on the task at hand - removing Don from the clutches of the Devil himself. There is also much more to this drama since in the process of saving his life, he literally should have been dead.

Update 3

Rough day at the hospital but several positive results occurred.

  1. Don was taken off life support today and is breathing on his own.
  2. We finally straightened out the run around we were given by medical records staff. We are now given daily what we have asked for all along - a copy of his lab reports and a copy of all the meds he is on DAILY.
